Been ok, i have been having some problems with shira. After talking with the vet, hes going to come out again soon and talk about options for her legs. Its looking to be at this point in time and how hard i have ben jumping her these past couple years, her legs are unable to take the pressure so her ligaments and muscles are retaliating. This could end her career... but btw i just want whats best for her :c
On the bright side Pets is coming along great and my trainer has been letting me ride her Thoroughbred X ISH, Harley and hes pretty fun so i guess its not all bad
that sucks about shira... my first horse had tendon problems after like 3 months of jumping so he is just hangs out with the minis and is a butt. i really hope that it's something that she can recover from though like maybe you can ask about putting some boots on her when you ride? and maybe some shoes take the impact? idk i just hope she gets better, really do. also you're so flipping lucky you get to ride an irish sport horse cross because they are flipping amazing
Shira is good, we are slowly bringing her back into work. I rode her for the first time in 3 months yesterday. We are doing a lot of flatting and such to built muscle up slowly, and I massage and stretch her every other day. When she gets more muscle we are going to try jumping again once we get the ok form the vet. Praying her legs stay strong. She’s on 2 different supplemts for that as well as a medication
She has all 4 plates on rn for shoes, and whenever I ride her I either were brush boots, jumping boots, or XC boots. And there are bell boots 24/7 in the pastures, but I ride all the time in leverage boots
Good to know Shira is doing bettetr. track is the actual worst like I stopped going because I wanted to do a sport I actually liked anways once you have time tell me so we can rp together or something.
Oh btw I rode her about a week ago and she was soooo good. I have been conditioning her every day and she’s doing sooo good. I actually got to jump the other day. It was only up to about 2’6 but we did a 18 inch 4 jump bounce into a one stride 2 footer to a shortened 2 stride 2’6 vertical go a lengthened 3 stride 2’6 ascending oxer to build up her muscle because I have a recognized mini trial in like 30 days. Probably only going to compete her at BN or Novice depending on how she’s going by then though, she’s just lost so much muscle😭 Forgot how much me and this horse clicked though. As just breeze right through it and I think about doing soemthing she’s just on the same page and it’s so nice to not fight a horse 24/7.... cough cough Pets cough cough.
What are your thoughts on the stallion Capps Casanova? I’m thinking about getting Shira bred to him but he’s in Ireland so idk if the sperm would love the travel. But I also don’t know if I want to have her out of work that long🤔
well glad to know shira is doing well in conditioning and 2'6 is a start from where you used to be so hey thats pretty good. like at least she has some muscle apollo's is covered up with his fat (he's got his andulusian build) about the shira preggo thing. I mean if you really want to it's just like it takes so long for her to have the baby then the foal won't even be ready to start till like 2-3 years of age so idk it just depends on you and what you want. Also happy early bday (u prolly won't even see this till like a week x3)
No it’s like my least favorite type of tack. I only use real leather tack. Only horse I ever used it on was Triton becuase he constantly kept snapping my training bridles cheek pieces so I legit clashed and barriers them form my old trainers wintec bridle. Others wise I don’t see the point in the fake leather🤷♂️
Well I ride a gray, a black, and a black and white pinto so mine go with anything, but i still always prefer to have brown for show jump and cross country, and black for dressage. Plus I mean I don’t like to use the cheaper stuff, especially saddles, since they aren’t the best for horses back. But like my nice saddles (CW 2g for jumping, m Toulouse for dressage) I don’t use on anyone besides Shira, but like my lower quality saddle (M Tolouse for jumping and DK Freedom for dressage) I use on the horses I school and train. But then when I get a new ottb or otsb I will always start in my Colligent no matter what because I don’t give a shit what happens to it. Although it’s nice to have stuff that’s synthetic because you don’t have to clean it, I enjoy cleaning tack (I’m weird ok) so egh
idrc about natasha rlly whatever u want itd be pointless bringing her back since i am not using alissa for a lil. anyway we mainly rp whenever but do u wanna rp tomorrow or tonight i think ill be back home by then
How i train my horses to frame and collect without side reins and lunging is i will have the 4 sides of the arena that i will trot at (The trot is the most controlable gait for collection) and i will have poles set to a lengthed side on 2 sides of the arena an then the other 2 have shortened poles. Its really good for teaching collection. I also do alot of ircle work becaus it is easier to get engament from the hind end on a circle. So alot of poles and circles will get him there. If he doesntly respond to either of these try doing leg yielding on 2 sides and collecting on the other, following the collction side in that corner do a small about 10-15 m circle. This is normally the conditioning routine i have to do qith shira because pony be sooooo unfocused 98% of the time.
Pony Update: Mini Trial season starts soon so like yay. The end.
P.S. I got bored like 5 minutes ago and went back on aj and omg the feeeeeelllllssssss
anyway i rlly want to go to wef or the new international center thats like all freaking indoor for a show but i'm not ready for that rn hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha still trying to get apollo to understand that he can't run around the ring like a freaking maniac, and not let me count, and throw his head up eveyr time i try to regain connection w/ the bit.
Ok so when he lifts his head up at he pressure, give to the pressure than take it back. It’s nkrmally for a horse to lift their head when they are uncomfortable. So like just keep asking him, and as soon as he gives to the pressure it’s like he just saved the world and make a huge deal of pats. He is going to have to learn that it is easier to keep his head down in the long run and keep that contact. Also remember it’s not about the head position. That will come with time, it’s getting them to relax their back and use their hind end correctly. The head will come with time, and don’t do like an hour of flat work when you are just getting collection because it super hard on their bodies and minds. And make sure to work you’re way up the dressage pyramid. It could be you’re skipping one so Apollo physically isn’t ready for collect :)
Ok so I rode Apollo in a lesson for the first time in two weeks by he had lime disease so he was resting and then I had to get him fit before I could jump again. He soooooo amazing it’s like he got better at finding spots w him taking a break, I mean he is a little lazy but that can be fixed w a crop and I want to get better at being in control before I start to train faster. We got him to frame it just took a lot of bending and counter bending and he got every lead change. The last one was a lil rough cause his back end is not the strongest so he gets his front first then gets his back so he changed his lead like two strides before the jump and recovered and saved my butt. It sucks that I’m going away for a week but I’ll just get some training rides for him so we can bounce back.
